High Holidays 2020

The High Holidays are upon us.

Burquest and the White Rock South Surry Jewish Community Centre, will make available a set of videos of High Holiday music and prayers led by Cantor Steve Levin. Cantor Levin is prerecording these for both Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. He expects to have about an hour of material for each holiday. These will be available as links that you can watch on your own schedule. We will post the links on the Burquest and WRSSJC websites, and distribute them via email, as soon as they are available.

The High Holidays begin on the following dates: 

  • Rosh Hashana: Friday evening Sept 18th.
  • Erev Yom Kippur/Kol Nidre: Sunday evening Sept. 27th
  • Yom Kippur: Monday Sept. 28th 
  • Sukkot: Friday Oct. 2nd

A full set of conservative services will be available online, and limited evening in person services on Rosh Hashana and Kol Nidre. Non-members may purchase an online link by writing to info@bethisrael.ca, they are requesting a donation of $180.

A full set of Zoom services are available streaming from their bayit, with login instructions pubically available for each service. Or shalom uses the Harlow Machzor. Used copies can be ordered online for quite reasonable prices, but might not be deliverable in Canada within a week. An E-book version can be purchased, but it is expensive.
